The Truth about Mental Disorders.

Dr. John Breeding, Ph.D. psychologist discusses how mental disorders are created by the American Psychiatric Association and listed in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders.

Disorders such as bipolar, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety Disorders, etc. are voted into existence by APA committees.

The underlying assumption of biological psychiatry is that mental illness is biologically based despite the fact that no solid science has been able to identify biological markers for mental illnesses.

Thanks for this nice film. I do agree with you that there are nothing called mental diseases. To my opinion there are psychological hardships due to trauma, aggression, life pressures and bad habits. The slide film I made shows ways to be mentally healthy.

Wow, before he even said it, I thought so psychiatry today is the new Inquisition of yesterday. I strongly agree.

  6. VaughnVI Says:

    It’s strange that …
It’s strange that all these disorders, i should say alleged disorders, because they are, only a name doctors place on a specefic set of symtoms displayed by a given patient. I find it strange that they have classifications at all, for there really are no diseases, only people, and interactions between people. The emotional responses from any given person differs depending on his or her values about acceptable social activity, these things cause distractions, and result in missed learning, and

  7. VaughnVI Says:

    antisocial behavior …
antisocial behavior. These of coarse manifest in antisocial behavior, tuning out of the social situation due to “the hidden ” desire to be with a more morally acceptable social order. This manifests itself in cases of Multiple personality disorders, hearing voices, and the development of an internally focused world. This is of coarse aggrevated by the doctors aggressive attempts to treat such patients, and manifests in the doctors own perception of the patient, making patients loose self esteem

I’m willing to give you some credit and assume that the amount of ignorance you have can’t be all untaught.

    Enjoy your Xenu wisdom.

This is one of the …
This is one of the calmest, kindest, most sensible, and intelegent comentaries I’ve ever heard on this subject. As a defiant, angry, misunderstood and rebelious youth, I lived on the “cusp” of this modern psycology/medicine “boom”. I was diagnosed with “over religiousity”, and “defiant behaviour”, and was forced to take “pre add drugs” which were cruel and very unregulated drugs and doses, such as thorazine, and haldol. It was a very hard childhood… yes, I was very angry and confused about it.

  11. kevinneslund Says:

    Whose the …
Whose the Scientology puppet though? You’re initial statement was about a “psychologist” , in this case, John Breeding. Not sure what scientology has to do with that. Cheers ~

  12. krftwrk77 Says:

    @kevinneslud

    @kevinneslud

You’re right. I was being too harsh on the sky cap. No one deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence with a Scientology puppet.

  13. kevinneslund Says:

    You’ve stumbled …
You’ve stumbled into a false analogy and aren’t aware of it. Carefully think about the statement you’ve committed to paper.

  14. kevinneslund Says:

    Simply put — the …
Simply put — the people who put that piece of idiotic nonsense (DSM) together with VOTES are clueless morons. “Diagnostic”? Most folks don’t understand that in order to have or perform a “diagnosis” you must have a “cause” for the so-called “disease”. There must be established etiology. Everysngle so-called “disease” in the DSM does no list a cause, or, even a treatment plan for the so-called “diseases”. A sad, pathetic, yet at times, cruel joke.

  15. kevinneslund Says:

    Well said. Just as …
Well said. Just as the stupid, insensitive husband who beats his wife because “she stresses me out” and goes to a bar to “have a few to take the edge off” with alcohol, thus, not properly addressing his real problem, so too, do these anti-depressants and all other neuroleptics. they simply numb the senses and emotions, thus, avoiding your true thoughts and feelings. Counterproductive, and, whats worse, the pharmaceutical companies know this. Talk about culpability!

  16. Diazt3r Says:

    In conclusion the …
In conclusion the people that evaluate you only know the surface of yourself and the way you act whether its bad or good. The only person that knows you is you.

  17. Diazt3r Says:

    The insanity is …
The insanity is legalizing these drugs on the basis that it has mixed results, its highly addicting, have permanent damage or changes to your brain chemistry, tolerance will only make you shuffle through drugs, and maybe even push people over the edge of their depression. The fact that drug companies know that they aren’t at least 95 percent sure is enough to pull their drugs out of the market for ethical reasons. But people tend to say that it makes me feel better but so does illicit drugs.

  18. Diazt3r Says:

    How can society …
How can society endorse the validity of the very same people that say opposition defiant disorder, homosexuality, sadomasochism (like what paranormalww specified) is an actual disorder. Well if god is speaking to you, you might as well be schizo. There are way too many double standards in the DMV and people are so blinded by it. The makers of the DSM really should consider reevaluating the that they have put in the books. (and maybe even reevaluate their whole practice).

  19. truthisaliar2 Says:

    psych. freaks …
psych. freaks attack one person in mass.
Using government money and calling it research. Using the media and politicians to attack this person. Subjecting this person to psychcological torture . A torture that they themselves could not endure . Then they give themselves awards and have dinners over this torture .
That’s what psych. freaks do .

  20. BSANONYMOUS Says:

    Disorder, illness & …
Disorder, illness & disease are not synonymous with each other. I personally do not like your criticism Dr. Breeding it shows total disregard for the people who have mental disorders. You are basically saying that anybody can be fixed & nobody is ever really demented etc. You can’t prove everything 100% through science today. Those books you are talking about I’m sure hold truth to our “Social norms”. If you don’t believe in social norms then you probably are an anarchist.

  21. DontPwnMyTwins Says:

    if you want to …
if you want to comeback from a depression FOR EVER, all the pills and medications. depression is nothing more then an emocional state. getting better by learning to trust yourself is the safest cure

  22. theamazingplant2 Says:

    i was also …
i was also diagnosed with bipolar…. i dont get it- it seems that everyone is getting diagnosed. also, it was a police officer that diagnosed me, wit h no training at all. and for my experience, i was sent to a school- it was hell. that only happened a year ago- when i was 11. and if you want some info about the school pm me. i might make vid about it soon

  23. fetalbetal Says:

The same exact stuff happened to me and I went non-spiritual. :/

  24. krftwrk77 Says:

    DSM is bullshit, …
DSM is bullshit, yes. But John Breeding is no less B.S than DSM. A psychologist talking about psychiatry is like a sky cap talking about how to fly a plane.

  25. paranormalww Says:

    Sadomasochism still …
Sadomasochism still IS in the DSM-IV (”disorder of sexual preference”). :(
