How many ultrasounds do you normally get, when going to the Health Dept vs a Dr’s Office?

Im 14 weeks preggo (YAY ME!) LOL. I was wondering when I would get my ultrasound. I have my 2nd prenatal checkup on Sept 28th and then after that on October 24th or 26th (I’ll be 21 weeks) will I get my gender ultrasound then or what?
Typically, you will only get 2 ultrasounds during a healthy pregnancy. Sometimes you will get one around 14 weeks to date the pregnancy, but some wait until 20 weeks.
You will get an ultrasound at 20 weeks and maybe again around 35 weeks. If you go for one around 20 weeks then you’ll have to ask the tech to tell you the sex, they are checking for a lot more than the gender at this ultrasound so it’s up to you to ask.

I got my ultrasound at 20 weeks. I went to a public health place and they only gave me one, but I had to go to the hospital and have another one.

You ususally get your gender ultrasound between your 18th to 20 th week…So you should have found out the sex already..Good luck!

One ultrasound at about 20 weeks is usually all they do, unless there is a problem. That would be when they try to see the gender, too.

To clarify, ultrasounds are not done to determine the gender. They are done to find and/or rule out medical problems with the baby. Finding out the gender is just a nice extra (if baby cooperates and you want to know.)
Ultrasounds are expensive, so I would assume that health deparments don’t do a lot of unnecessary ones. You’ll probably have that routine scan around 20 weeks.

with my 2nd pregnancy I had 5 ultra sounds and a 4d one. but my baby had cysts on his brain and I had to see a specialist. usually the norm is 1 ultrasound. they do it at about 20wks. and if you little one isn’t hiding anything you can ask the tech to tell you the sex of the baby!!

it depends on ur doctor. The doctor i go 2 does it everytime i go in for a checkup and the clinic i went to before i got insurance was only going to do it the first check up at 20 weeks n then like 2 weeks before due date

my doc did an ultrasound @ 9 weeks, one @ 19 weeks (just to determine sex) and i will have one @ 23 weeks.
so i would say you should probably at least get 2…
