I scare crow would be best. Or other wise you can take a black water hose and cut it up into 4 feet long strips or black boarder line for above ground gardens and that will scare the birds, b/c birds are afraid of snakes.
References :
Buy a bird bath as an alternative to using your pond. No guarantees , but better than netting the area. How many, and which types of bird can cause you to drain your pond ? Surely only Ducks ?
References :
I know someone with a biggest up grown swimming pool converted into a pond. Yes, he lost many fishes to Hawks and Eagles. One day afternoon, my neighbor saw a big Hawk standing on the edge of his pond eying his Koi (s), like 50 Kois. Yes number of Koi's did vanished from his pond. I say "Alien abduction." Solution. He found some floating seaweed that Manatees like to eat and grow enough of them to cover his pond and also he cover his pond with screens from Home Depot. They sell them by the yards. Good luck. Now he has problem with racoons !
References :
Blow up a balloon, tie it to a string. Tack the other end of the string down in the area. The balloon will blow around in the wind, and scare off the birds. You can also try tin foil, in the same way. The sun shining off it will also scare away birds. Regards-Bob.
